Referrals

Referrals come from Vera House, Dorothy Day House and other emergency shelters for women and women with children. Women can refer themselves or have a professional make the referral for them. Women interested in the program can refer themselves or have a professional make the referral for them.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Come from a homeless shelter
  • Have an income (public assistance, SSI/SSD, employment, etc.)
  • Be at least 16
  • Complete a phone screening
  • Get interviewed on site
  • Obtain or verify a source of income

Residents may have up to two children aged 7 or under (families in the supported apartments can have older children)

 Chadwick Residence participants must:

  • Understand and abide by program requirements
  • Work with case manager to develop and work toward goals
  • Meet with other staff as required
  • Participate in daily activities in the community
  • Care for and nurture children
  • Respect other program participants
  • Do assigned household chores
  • Keep personal space neat and clean
  • Buy food and prepare meals
  • Pay monthly rent on time
  • Be in by curfew
  • Attend house and other mandatory meetings
